Merry Christmas!!

It was wonderful talking to you all yesterday. I loved it. It went by way too fast for me  :) But I really loved it. You all look so good. Thanks for everything you do for me. I am so spoiled to have you as my family! I really am. I love you guys so much. Grandma and Grandpa thank you so much for coming as well. It was great seeing you and talking with you.
This week has been really fun. We were really busy. We had a good week. We helped set up for the ward Christmas party. We helped the YM/YW set up. We had a really good lesson with some Chinese students. We went to see an investigator, but she wasn't in so we were able to come in and talk with their friends it was awesome. We were able to talk to them about the restoration. They were interested!! :)

Sister Brooks and Sister Lefevre came and spent the night before the Christmas Conference. So we could go together. It was fun we caught the coach to drive to Birmingham. So we drove and picked up more missionaries. The conference was really good. This Christmas has been something special. Because it is different being away from home, in England....on a mission. I have felt the spirit so much more. The real meaning of Christmas. It has been fun. The ensign this year has a talk from Elder Holland about his Christmas in England. You should all read it. It was amazing!! And still so TRUE!  Raining every day. I have loved it!! I definitely love it. Thank you!! Marissa Masihdas for the beautiful Christmas present. The talks went to great use. It was so sweet. I will cherish that gift so much. Thank you. It was 25 days of conference talks about Christ and the light of Christ.

Oh my gosh!! It was hilarious as I was biking it was pouring down rain. This car came by and through a FULL cup of water right into my face. It was epic!  Definitely a good mission story. Later that night we had the ward Christmas party. It was awesome.

Sunday!!! E CAME TO CHURCH!! She loved it!! She said it was great. She felt something. She wants to come next week! :) Ya I was so excited!!! She is doing so well.

Christmas eve we went to carol at the town centre it was fun!! Singing in the rain!! :) It was freezing. Then we went to the Members home and had a GREAT Christmas Eve!! It was brilliant. I loved it!! Then we had pajamas and made scones and slept by the Christmas tree.

Christmas we opened presents...thank you so much!! :) It was a great Christmas. They did a Christmas service. It was a carol. It was beautiful. The spirit was so strong!!!! I loved it!! :) Then we went to another members home and had an awesome Christmas. Then we went to the Kirk’s to Skype. We had a miracle happen. We were knocking at their door. They didn't hear us for like 5 minutes. We both looked around and saw this girl sitting waiting for her friend. We felt like we should go talk to her. She was amazing. We talked about God and what she believes. She really wants to learn more since she is going in the Army. She thinks it will be good and help her lot, as well as prayer!

It was a great Christmas. I love you!! :) MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Christmas is almost here!!

Christmas is coming fast…..
Hello family!! I am so excited to talk to you guys soon. So I talked to the family we are going to spend Christmas with yesterday and I think we are going to Skype with you. I am so excited!!

So Sister Lewis and I had a great week. We had a great lesson with E this week. She is doing so well. Sister Lewis lived in China for 7 years so she knows Chinese. We had a member from Notts 1 come as well. The lesson was so good. We taught the Plan of Salvation. She loved it. This is my favorite lesson to teach. She is praying about a date. She really see's the reason to get baptized!! :) :) She is afraid of water.  So we will have to help her with that.

We teach really well together. I love it! We know where each other is going with the lesson and it works great. I am so excited for this transfer.

The weather has been crazy!! It has poured so much. I feel like I am getting sick. It has been fun though. I think I am killing Sister Lewis on the bike. She is a rock star though. She is doing so well.

We have our Christmas party on the 21st. then the 22nd we have our ward party. Then 24th I will email you guys and we will try to work out the Skype stuff and it’s a regular working day. Then CHRISTMAS!!! Then the 26th is Boxing Day. It is a big holiday here!!! It’s as big as Thanksgiving probably so that is our P-day.

I love you guys so much! So excited. I hope you have a great week! :) love you!!!!!!!--

10 Months.... What?!!

10 Months….. WHAT!!!!

Hey family!! Oh my gosh....You guys will not believe it when I tell you. This does NOT happen. SO guess who my companion is...Sister Lewis from the MTC!! :) Crazy!!! We are companions in Nottingham. I am so excited. This week has been insane.

E got BAPTISED!!! It was an awesome week. I will tell you guys about it at Christmas but it was a great service. He was really happy!! :) The Bishop baptized him. He also took us to have a Nigerian meal at the University. It was really good as well.

We had a great week with some less actives. I love all the people we are working with. We said our good-byes to everyone Sister Matapo wanted to go by. It was great. We went to a little Christmas party.

I went to reflection night.  It was the first one I have gone to, Sister Matapo needed a companion since she was the only sister. It was nice to be with her. The testimony meeting was really good as well. I love to hear other missionary’s testimonies. The spirit was so strong. It made me realize this is not too far away. I know it will go by fast so I need to focus and find those people I am here for. I have this feeling I haven't met some of the people I am here for.  So I really want to find them. I feel like I have promised some people I will find I really want to!!

Today we have had a great day I spent the day with Sister Rasmussen. Helping her out. She was my companion. It was fun to get to know her. I really haven't spent that much time with her. So it was great. I really enjoyed it!
Well I love you so much! I hope you all have a great week and I will email you on Monday.I love you all so much!! :)

What an awesome day

It's My Birthday!!

Birthday Week!!

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. My birthday was awesome!! I really enjoyed it. Sister Matapo made it a good day as well. I opened my package. Mom I loved it all! Thank you so much! I cried when I opened up the calendar. I was not expecting that. Thank you SO much!! It was so sweet

This week has been really good. E is doing so well. He passed his interview!! :) Yay!! He is not sure if he is right now he isn't so his baptism will be on Saturday. So excited!!!  We had a really good lesson with Sis. E. She reads the scriptures before we get there. She is making progress. She finds it really difficult to understand the Chinese Book of Mormon so (a member) came. It was really good. Sis. E asks really good questions. Things that I don’t really know myself or how to explain them. It’s crazy to see how much I have grown...but then again how much I still need to know. I guess we are all learning.

We had a really good exchange!!! I loved it!!!! :) Working with Sister C was so fun! She is from Utah and we had a good time together. We work really well together. I hope I get to serve with her before she goes home. She goes home in April. Sister S from Belgium is her companion. She is so sweet. She talks like she is American. She is so sweet. She is a new missionary. This is her first transfer. She is SO GOOD!! She is fearless, and very bold. Many things I am still trying to work on.

We saw a lot of Less Actives this week. They are all so great! I love them all!! 4 of them came to church on Sunday. It was awesome! It is the Christmas spirit that is bringing everyone back. I love it!! The small chapel was FULL!

The English tradition is usually Christmas decorations 12 days before and 12 days after Christmas. But a family here, the Beardsmores put the decorations up early!!! :) I love it!! Now it does feel like Christmas.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes!!! Love you all!!

P-day in Nottingham

Another week

Hello family, this week has been really good. Thank you for all the birthday wishes and the emails. Sounds like you had a fun Thanksgiving holiday. I was thinking about you guys on that day. Sounds like it was eventful!! J

Sorry this email will be a little short because we had zone p-day and we are running late.

We had a good week. We had an awesome lesson with E. We set the program so it is set in stone. As we were about to leave he told us some surprising news, he thinks he has a new Scotland, what a surprise. He doesn't know when he would be starting. But it could be soon. So we had to tell him we can go to Scotland to baptize him. Hopefully things will work out; I think they will because he really wants to get baptized here. So fingers crossed!!

With the Holiday season and Christmas coming. people are getting busy. There was a man who told us we could come back and visit him in January. So basically after Christmas. Sis Matapo said this is how the holidays usually are. So it is going to be a little tricky to figure out appointments.  We stopped by a lot of the less actives this week. Our investigators are busy, things are coming up with the holidays. Final projects and things as well.

We had a good lesson with a lady the elders are working with. She is so sweet. It was a really good time, and they both came to church and stayed for the WHOLE time!! :) In all 3 classes.

It is getting cold, foggy, and frosty, and it has rained all week!! So not that many pictures sorry. But I didn't want to get my camera all wet.

I love you all!! Thank you for the emails!! They make my day when I come and have 3 emails. or more :)

love you

Proper Bruise - Bike Wreck

Hi Family!

This week has been really good. E is doing so well. He is still going strong with the Word of Wisdom. He didn't ask any questions this week. He has been really stressed with his PHD project. He is trying to graduate in July. But after he met with us he was smiling and wasn't as stressed. He has picked a date!!! AHHHHH :)  December 8th!! We fasted with him this week and if he does well on his test which I know the Lord works miracles when we exercise our faith in Him. Everything will work out. He is so prepared and is doing so well. He came to church yesterday and he really liked it. A Member who is fellowshipping him. (They are really good friends) invited him to church and dinner after church. He was excited!! I am praying so hard. He is doing so well. Thank you for the prayers for him :)

E and R (the Chinese students) they are doing well. We taught them the 10 commandments. It was good. It also helped me a lot in the since that I suck at understanding the Bible.  So after the lesson I have decided that I really need to get over my fear of the Bible. I am being blessed on my mission to understand things better than I ever have before...So I started reading the Bible! :) I am so proud of myself  I have read 18 chapters. I read it with the dictionary and it is getting easier. The parables sometimes get me but I know as I try my best I will understand what Heavenly Father wants me to understand. It is amazing to read and to see the stories of Christ. In the few Chapters that I read there is so many times that is says "Jesus felt compassion for the people..." That made me realize just a small bit, how loving and compassionate He is and how much he loves us. I can’t even imagine! E and R were so excited to hear about the 10 commandments and to see that they are already living them. They are doing well. We are just hoping that they will soon come to church.

My knee hasn't been doing very well. The bruise was really bad it still isn't doing so well. So we bused a lot this week. But I am trying to push myself. The bruise is right on my knee cap so every time I move. My knee cap moves. So it hurts the bruise  :) it is fun!! But I am doing better! :)

It’s crazy to think that Thanksgiving is coming this week? Right? I am not quite sure; it’s weird on a mission. It feels kind of like a blur. That it’s a dream  :) it’s weird, but fun at the same time.
We are working hard. I love this gospel, I love the scriptures, I love the Sabbath day, and I love my family!

Hello family! I can NOT believe this...crazy!! It’s been 9 months. I feel like it has gone by so fast. WOW!!  Sounds like everyone is doing well. I can’t believe the snow storm you guys had! That is crazy! I am glad it has not snowed here yet!! 16 inches... (I think that is what you said dad... but I can’t remember) :)  I don’t miss driving in the snow at all.  :)

This week has been pretty good. We had a great lesson with E. He is doing really well. Last week we taught him about the Word of Wisdom. It was 10 minutes. So this week we went and finished teaching him more about it. He has been doing great with it. He has kept it for a week now. He is PRAYING ABOUT A DATE!!!! :) How exciting!!! He is still doing well.  Please keep him in your prayers.

We had a really good lesson with Sis. E and R. A Chinese member from the Notts1 ward came to teach with us. It went really well. They have never heard of the gospel and some of the words. So it was really good that (Hong) came to teach with us to explain better. She knows where they are coming from. They think baptism is a big step and they are scared. So they are going to come see a baptism this week, which will be good to watch one.  They are doing really well.

Wow!!! So on my half way mark. The 9th, we had zone conference. Elder Kerr came! It was awesome!! The spirit was so strong. We were talking about so many different things, it was awesome. It was definitely an answer to my prayers.

Sunday we had a good day at church. It was remembrance Sunday and everyone wore a poppy. After church we were going to a Less Active family and sis. Matapo didn't see where I was turning. So she went straight. She wasn't coming so I hurried and biked to go find my companion. (She had the phone) So I was biking. I passed the ramp for the curb and I thought I could still make it...well I fell!!! Hard! I slid of the pavement and almost hit my face. I am ok. My hands are scratched up. I have some rips (like gymnastic ones) and a proper, massive, burse on my knee.....
BUT I AM OK... IT JUST HURTS. But I am fine. So that was my week. I love you guys so much!! :) Hope you have a great week.

Thank you to the Petersen family for the package, Thank you Beth for the package, I feel so loved.  Mom and dad thank you for the package and email, love you!

HUMP Day This WEEK!!

Oh My Gosh……HUMP DAY this WEEK!!!!

It’s crazy to think a year ago this week I was getting my call. So crazy. I feel like since I received my call time has just flashed by.  I haven't opened my “HUMP DAY” package yet, because I know it will make the day so much better...but it is staring me in the face!!!  :)

This week has been really good. We have seen a lot of people.  We basically went to everyone we are teaching to have Sister Matapo introduce herself; so they feel comfortable with us. It was a really good week. We had some good lessons with S. We watched Finding Faith in Christ. She really liked it. My relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer has grown this week. I love reading the scriptures and talking with my companion after our appointments.

E was really good this week as well. I was really nervous he wouldn't let us see him since Sis. Brooks left. But he did!!!  He is praying about a date. Praying about December 1st. THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED WITH HIM!! So exciting! :) Then we saw him on Saturday as well. We were sitting with him in the cafe and he wanted to order us tea or coffee. We told him that we don’t drink it. Then we told him some more. He told us to teach him the Word of Wisdom. He went down stairs and bought red bush tea and herbal tea. He is going to keep it. :) He is doing so well. He really is so prepared!! I can see Lords hand in the work :)

We saw sister E, and we are going to take a member with us this week. She read the Chinese Book of Mormon and didn't really understand it. So we are going to find a Mandarin speaker to come help. C has had a few off weeks. L is doing well. She has read 2 Nephi 30 - 3 Nephi 20. In like one week. It’s crazy. It makes her so happy!! I love to see how the gospel can bring so much peace and joy into someone’s life. When they give it a chance.

I love this gospel and to be able to share it with people of the street. Also, to hear others and their relationship with the Savior.
I love you all!!!

Transfers!! New but Old companion

So today was transfers and I have another companion....yep I have had her before....Sister Maptapo! Crazy!! She has this transfer left. So we will be working hard this transfer. She is kind of sad because the area she left was closed.

So this week has been kind of crazy!! Lots of up and downs for sure. We have not seen C this week. She never answered her phone or the door when we stopped by. So hopefully we will make some progress with her. But I am kind of nervous because she doesn't know that Sister Brooks is gone. So I'm hoping that will go by ok.

We had a really good lesson with E. We are teaching him the Commandments right now. He came to church and stayed for all of church.  (Clocks went back) So he was a little late. But he enjoyed priesthood. We went to a member’s home later that night and he asked a lot of questions!! So he told me that on Wednesday he is going to have a lot of questions for us.... He is getting close, and is doing well.

We were unable to see E this week. She has this huge project for school that got changed. It is stressing her out so she had to cancel. But hopefully we will see her this week and she will come to church.

It has been a good week, but a hard week at the same time. But it’s not getting my hopes down. I am excited for this next transfer! Hopefully we will see some MIRACLES!!! :) Yeah!

Love you all!! Mom I got your package today!! and a letter from Haylee!! :) So excited!! Thank you!!!!! :) love you

Halloween Package!

Transfers are next week
Hello family!! Sounds like you have had a great week. To answer your question: Transfers are next week. Thank you for the package, you are so cute!!  In England they don’t really celebrate Halloween. So it was fun to have some of the candy. Some people celebrate it, but not that many.

So this week has been good. It has had a few ups and downs. But there is nothing I can’t handle. We had Sister Baker and sister Giles come and work with us on Monday and Tuesday, it was good. I was able to work with both of them. I learned something of myself and also about missionary work. So it was a good learning experience for me.

We saw L. She is doing really well. She has been reading the scriptures DAILY! So that is awesome!! So excited for her. I asked her what has brought it on...and she said she just feels a lot better when she reads the scriptures. It is so true! I love it!

We had a really good lesson with E. She loves praying. We are going to have a lesson with her this week with an Elder who speaks Chinese. So this will be good. So hopefully she can understand a little bit better than before. She is so sweet!! I love her.

Sometimes I think we go through life and are stressed with crazy things of the world. We think about what we have to get done before the end of the day or week. We have too many things on our plate. I love this quote "Life isn't a race it’s a Journey" I think it is so true. It is like what Pres. Uchtdorf said. We need to enjoy every moment.  I love this work. Even when I have some bad days, or run into some tricky situations. I need to enjoy it. It's not who gets to the end of the race first. But it’s what you learn through the journey.

I love you guys so much!!!

A Great Week

A Great Week!!

Hello family,
This week has been really good. I have told you about Ms. C before she was not very receptive. She came to church again this week. and liked it a lot better. It was testimony meeting and she really enjoyed it; and  had an amazing experience. We taught her last week, we could really see Satan working so hard on her; afterward, she accepted a date for baptism. She is doing really well. She said she will pray and read the scriptures daily.

Mr. E, is doing well. I don’t know if I told you about him last week. We have taught him since I have been here but he kind of fell off the face of the earth, but he called us. We went to go see him. I bore my testimony, and he opened up more than he ever has. He came to a baptism in Notts 1. So we took him to it. He really liked it. He felt the spirit. It was really strong.

Ms. E is doing well. We went and saw her. She has been praying every day/night. She loves it. She feels so peaceful and calm when she does. We invited her to be baptized but she wants to learn more still. She is so excited to learn more about Jesus Christ. I am excited to teach her. She is so lovely!!

I can’t believe this week is going so fast. Transfers are coming up soon! :)
Love you all!!

Mission Football

So we had a surprise this week. We had mission football. The new president surprised us with it.
I know the news about the missionary age. So for the boys, a lot of the England the age is 18 for the boys so I was kind of used to it. But it is crazy all 18 year old can go. The 19 year old for the girls. It is so COOL!!! I am so excited! I agree, I think a lot of girls are going to be going out on missions. Which is a big deal? I think the world does need sisters. :) I think the number of sisters out in the field will grow. This is so awesome!

I loved conference. C came!!!!! :) It was her first time to church. It was kind of overwhelming but she liked some of it. She is doing really well. We have a baptism date with her for Oct 27. So we will see. She is going to do all she can to get the answers she wants in the next 4 weeks. :) I think she is really going to put in the effort! :)

We had some miracles this week. We have a new investigator E. She is Chinese. She is so cute. We went to see her and she said to come in to hang. She had 5 friends there. So we taught all of them. It was great!!! :) She is so prepared!!  The Zone Leaders went and saw E so we could finish at the hospital on Sunday. We eventually made it to the church for conference.  E loved the church. She prayed the beginning and end of the prayer in English; and the middle of the prayer in Chinese. It was great. After her prayer, she was like "that was easy, I will do that every day" :) :) it was so cute!! She is awesome. She wants to learn about Jesus. We are going to see her today as well. So it should be good.

Sorry for the crazy email, I am so glad everyone is doing well. I love you all. And I will write a better email next week. Love you!!

Oh my favorite talk was Elder Holland. The talk he gave was kind of the same talk he gave at the MTC devotional we watched. I love it, I don’t know if you remember me telling you about it. I think I did but I love it.  "Do you love me.....then feed my sheep!"

Love you-sis. Nelson

General Conference

Yay! Conference is coming.

I'm excited to have conference this week. We are watching the General
Relief Society on Saturday before we watch the first session.  Then we get to watch conference.  I am so excited to hear from the Prophet.

S is still doing well. She didn't come to church yesterday. One of their kids was ill. But hopefully she will be able to come next week. We had a good lesson with her this week about the Gospel. She needs to gain a testimony about the Savior and all that he has done for us. I think once she gains a witness she will get baptized.

I have great news; I heard the two guys we were teaching in Wales are getting baptized.  One did this past weekend; and the other one will be in a couple of weeks.  I am so grateful to see the work moving forward.  I wish I could be there to see them get baptized, but I am just happy to know they are making the choice to do it, YAY!!

We had zone meeting this week. It was really good. We had little workshops where we went to 4 different rooms and talked about the spirit, faith, planning and members. We have had some miracles with planning. We are going to start working using our time better. We have been working 50-50 with less actives and investigators. But it is now changing to 80-20 slowly.  By doing this we are using our time with people who are improving and wanting to change. We have been doing a lot of finding. We had a work over with the zone leaders, and we just did FINDING all day!!! It gets super draining when people are rude to you. But you do have to think about the eternal perspective and think about what they are missing. What you have in your life that helps you get through things. They don’t have that sense of comfort. We have a lot of potential we got this week.  I want to Lord to see that.       President Monson "On occasion we need to make a second effort-and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve."  I love that quote. This transfer is being dedicated to the Prophet Thomas S. Monson. We are ALL trying our best. Keep putting in the effort and you will accomplish all that you want to achieve.

I love this gospel and I love reading and learning so much more. I am now in 3 Nephi and I love it!!!! :)
I love you all. Thank you for everything that you do. For always being there for me and for all the prayers!
Love you

Winter is Coming

Winter is Coming
Letter from Rylee
So since I wrote you on Wednesday nothing much has happened. We are doing a lot of finding. We still believe the Lord will bless us. We have to continue to show we are doing our best. And we have to remember people are using their agency. (FREEDOM TO CHOOSE) sometimes it can be hard. But it’s all good, just keep plugging along.

We had a really good lesson with S. We walked into her house. Right as we came into sit. She said "lets pray for her friend who is in the hospital. She believes in prayer. That you can pray everywhere. It was a really good lesson we had with her. We stopped by her house because her boyfriend can fix bikes really well. Her boyfriend told her she should go to church this week. To stop saying maybe and just go and check it out. :) :) :) We went to pick her up and we all biked to church. She is 22 and has 2 kids. It was fun biking with a family to church. The kids loved it!! And She enjoyed it. She contributed in all the lessons!! :) It was awesome. She was teaching us. Telling us we are here on earth to learn and to progress. :) She is awesome!! We biked her and her family home. They are doing well!! :)
The weather is going downhill. It is going straight to winter it is raining so much and it is freezing. ahhhhh WINTER in England is comin fast!! It is going to be cold. I hope that it isn't too bad.

I love you all! :) I love reading the Book of Mormon. I am now in 3 Nephi! :) I am so excited to read it. It is an amazing book. I love learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is so much to learn. Really I learn something new every day. haha :)

President Thomas S. Monson said, “I believe the Savior is telling us that unless we lose ourselves in service to others, there is little purpose to our own lives. Those who live only for themselves eventually shrivel up and figuratively lose their lives, while those who lose themselves in service to others grow and flourish—and in effect save their lives"

Love you!
